Social media networks are undoubtedly a major part of our modern-day life, but how will our obsession with them affect our future? One approach to this question is ‘The Valimat’, a critical barometer which monitors a person’s social media performance. It shows how our obsessions and behaviours from our daily social media usage might extend into our worst horrors in a speculative future, where peoples online performances and validation-seeking behaviours are turned into the backbone of our society. In this speculative environment, the amount of likes and re-tweets do not only determine our moods, but also our society and ultimately everyone’s daily life.

‘The Valimat’ was development as part of a university project, which investigates the topic of digital sentimentality and uses Arduino in order to provide an interactive experience.
